Detroit Electric, the new startup with an old name, said it is delaying production because it hasn't secured a lease or purchase agreement for its manufacturing facility in Plymouth, Mich. It is also talking to some new partners, though the company declined to name them. North American president Don Graunstadt told the Detroit News, “To further elaborate at this juncture is, unfortunately, not possible as Detroit Electric have entered into negotiations with other parties that have the potential to impact our business strategy and timing,” Graunstadt said.
2011 Bahrain Grand Prix - back on in October
The start of the F1 Circus this year was put back after the Arab Spring made the Gulf Kindom of Bahrain a less than suitable venue for something as frivolous as Formula One, leading to the postponement of the 2011 Bahrain Grand Prix. But now it seems the Bahranians are convinced they’ve put a lid on the populist move to topple their regime (how they’ve done that is debatable), so the FIA’s World Motor Sport Council met on Friday and reinstated the Bahrain Grand Prix for 30th October. That date was originally supposed to be the date of the inaugural Indian Grand Prix, but that too has been pushed back and will now take place at the end of the season, at the same time as the FIA Annual General Assembly and Prize-Giving Gala on December 11th.
Jaguar has the European debut of the new Jaguar XFR-S, the new F-Type, classic Jaguars and the trailer for the Jaguar F-Type film by Ridley Scott. It’s a relatively quiet Geneva Motor Show for Jaguar with nothing really new to shout about, but there is one European debut, the new Jaguar XFR-S, and the nest instalment in the F-Type’s ongoing PR assault with a final trailer for the F-Type film by Ridley Scott. The Jaguar XF cobbled together to take a bit more of a fight to the new BMW M5 and Mercedes E63 AMG than the XFR can manage – the Jaguar XFR-S – gets its European debut at Geneva.
